Earlier this month I was presented with the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the internationally prestigious outdoor furniture brand; Harbour Outdoor. My life of being a photographer can be spontaneous and jam packed at times, it can be really hard to predict what's coming next. Prior to the opening event, I'd literally just spent a week in the red, dusty desert of outback Australia and had to drive 18 hours straight, along tiresome dirt roads, dodging a myriad of hopping and running wildlife, just so we could attend the opening celebration of Harbour Outdoors Australian showroom in Waterloo, Sydney. It was a stark contrast of lifestyles, one day; beaten, tired and covered in dirt, the next; sipping champagne with interior designers and fashion enthusiasts in a collared shirt and a big smile. It always makes for a colourful conversation though.. "What have you been up to?" I'd be asked, well.. about that.. I wouldn't have it any other way though!
Harbour Outdoor is an internationally esteemed label, with showrooms all over the world, so it was a real honour to have my work on display in their new Australian flagship showroom. The response on the night was overwhelming, with over a hundred people all fascinated and curious to hear the stories behind the selected images. Especially the "Majesty" - the belly of a humpback whale, which sold almost instantly along with a couple of others.
I enjoyed the process of matching colour ways and themes with the furniture and settings, Harbour Outdoor make genuine top of the line quality furniture, designed and crafted by hand, and it was great to work with such professional people.
Enclosed in this blog update is some images of how the night unfolded, surrounded by great people, a delicious greek buffet of food and an electric atmosphere. Also, the images provide insight and inspiration on how Thurston Photo framed prints can compliment a variety of furniture themes and settings. On display is a series of 30"x45" White Framed prints on Metallic Pearl Paper, encased in Brilliant White Matting and Reflection Control Glass. Retailing at $899 Each.
A big thank you to Alana Sudale for doing such an amazing job of organising the collaboration, Harriet and Jim Condos and Patryc Lampasi for the showroom space, opportunity and genuine awesomeness in making it happen!
The prints are still currently on display, so if you are in the Sydney area, swing by Harbour Outdoor - 1037-1047 Bourke Street, Waterloo, Sydney (Entry via George Street)
