ABOUT THE IMAGE
The title ’Turbines’ refers to a type of machine for producing continuous power in which a wheel or rotor, typically fitted with vanes, is made to revolve by a fast-moving flow of water.. This description almost perfectly describes the energy evident in this image. For me it’s a picture of pure power and energy, attributes that the breaking wave symbolise very artistically. To achieve a photograph of this kind of power, it generally requires a lot of planning, forecasting and travelling; things that were certainly present in the endeavour involved in bringing this image to screens and galleries around the world. It’s a passion of mine to document the oceans power as I believe the symbolism of the breaking wave has a lot to teach us about how the energy in nature can be transformed into beautiful art and even revelation.
This photograph was captured off the coastline of South Western Australia.
